Week4: How will you measure your life?

I really felt this week's lesson more than I thought I would. How Will You Measure Your Life became a study that made me think about what I do with my time and, more importantly, why I do it. I often forget to take a step back and see how my life fits into the bigger picture because I'm too busy with my daily tasks and duties. One of the most important things I learned was that how we spend our time shows what we really value, not just what we say we value. That woke me up a bit. I say that my faith and family are the most important things to me, but when I thought about how I've been spending my days, I saw that work, to-do lists, and other things were often taking the lead. Clayton Christensen's talk about how important it is to spend in relationships and build a life that reflects your values, rather than just trying to be successful in the eyes of the world, really stuck with me. That made me think. Somewhere along the way, I stopped judging my worth by how much I accomplished or whether I met other people's expectations. I've always believed in life with a purpose. But that's not what really makes me happy at the end of the day. I want to change how I live. I want to be there for my kids and husband more. Putting God first is something I want to do more of, not just say I will. During the little, quiet times that no one else sees, I want to make it a point to build connections and live honestly.
